The boys represent the higher society of England – gentleman; however, they are soon seen to be savages.Â
The boys celebrate the lack of adults on the island and, with it, the lack of rules their society imposed, but quickly begin enforcing their own rules and taking on adult roles (caring, building, hunting/feeding)…Â
