blood glucose control

Cards (5)

  • the pancreas monitors and regulates the blood glucose concentration
  • if blood glucose is too low a negative feedback loop is triggered so the pancreas releases glucagon
  • glucagon acts on liver + muscle cells to convert the stored glycogen into glucose to be released into the blood stream
  • when blood glucose is too high the pancreas releases insulin so cells absorb glucose and liver + muscle cells convert glucose into glycogen to be stored
  • when blood glucose is too low the pancreas releases glucagon so cells release glucose and liver + muscle cells convert glycogen to glucose to be released
