• Rescue operations to anyone injured or in danger would be greatly restricted.
• There’s the risk of a few individuals committing environmental damage.
• Tourists still have to travel huge distances to the base, meaning tourists would have a large carbon footprint for visiting.
• Visiting is hugely expensive and therefore only the wealthy are able to share and appreciate the unique Antarctic environment.
