Fractional distillation of crude oil

• 1. The crude oil is heated to a very high temperature which makes them evaporate and turn into a gas
• 2. The crude oil vapour is now in the fractional distilation column which is hotter at the bottom and cooler at the top
• 3. Vapour rises up in the columns and hydrocarbons condense when they reach their boiling point
• 4. The remaining hydrocarbons continue moving up the column
