atomic structure

• atoms have a radiation of 1 x 10 to the power of -10
• the nucleus has an overall positive charge
• energy levels which are further from the nucleus are at a high energy than those which are closer to the nucleus
• if an atom absorbs electromagnetic radiation an electron can move from a lower energy to a higher energy level. the atom can now emit electromagnetic radiation and the electron can return back to the lower energy level
