Group 1 metal - alkali metal

• Group 1 metals are called Alkali Metal
• Soft metal - can be easily cut by a knife
• Highly react in Water
• Observation: Flame & bubble
• Metal + water -> metal hydroxide + hydrogen
• Group 1 Metals:

  1. Lithium
  2. Sodium
  3. Potassium
  4. Rb
• The atom size increases when going down the group
• The reactivity increases going down
• Called group 1 metal in the most outter shell
• Why group 1 metal become more reactive going down the group

  no. of electron & electron shell increases.Further from nucleuse easier to lose electrons.
• going down the melting and boiling point decreases
