  • Any reaction that reacts with oxygen is an oxidation reaction
  • Combustion is an oxidation reactio. Rusting is also an oxidation.
• Iron + Oxygen (+ presence of water) -> iron oxide
• metal + water -> metal hydroxide + hydrogen
• metal + acid -> salt + hydrogen
• alkali + acid -> salt + water
