Gamaba

• Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA) or National Living Treasures Award was institutionalized through RepublicAct No 7355.
• The administration and implementation of the GAMABA Award is tasked with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the highest policy-making and coordinating body for culture and arts of the State.
• The GAMABA Award is conferred on Filipinos who are at the forefront of the practice, preservation, and promotion of the nation's traditional folk arts.
• The main objective of the GAMABA Award is to honor and support traditional folk artists and to ensure that their skills and crafts are preserved.
• GINAW BILOG is a 1993 GAMABA Awardee who preserves the Surat mangyan, an Amabahan, a poem consisting of seven-syllable lines that use metaphors to send a point or message.
• BAGIT is instrumental music depicting the movements and sounds of nature, preserved by MASINO INTARAY
• KUDIYAPI is a two-stringed plucked lute that comes in a variety of shapes and forms and has different names depending on which cultural tribe you belong to.
• Kudyapi is a popular solo instrument of the Maguindanaon, one of the largest Islamic groups in the Philippines.
• LANG DULAY -T'nalak Weaving Preserving her people's traditional T'nalak using abaca fibers as fine as hair
• Lang dulay is a Traditional weaver from the T'boli tribe.
• SALINTA MONON is a 1998 GAMABA awardees and her is contribution is the Inabal Weaving.
• INABAL WEAVING is a form of bagobo abaca ikat weaving.
• UWANG AHADAS is a GAMABA awardees 2000 and his contribution is Playing Yakan Instrument that made of bamboo, wood and metal.
• Yakan is an ethnic community that has a rich musical heritage.
• FEDERICO CABALLERO is a GAMABA Awardees 2000 and his contribution is Chanting the surigadon Epic of Panay Bukidnon.
• FEDERICO CABALLERO Continuously works for the documentation of the oral litrature , in particular the epics, of people.
• ALONZO SACLAG is a GAMABA Awardees 2000 and he also a master of Kalinga Musical instrument and ritualistic dance movements.
• HAJA AMINA APPI is a GAMABA Awadees 2004 and her contribution is the Mat Weaving.
• EDUARDO MUTUC is a GAMABA Awardees 2004 and his contribution is He is an artist who has devoted his existence to developing religious and secular artwork in silver ,bronze, and wood.
• DARHATA SAWABI is a GAMABA Awardees 2004 and his contribution is the Pis syabit weaving a woven traditional headgear of tausug in jolo.
• MAGDALENA GAMAYO is a GAMABA Awardees 2012 and her contribution are Abel(blanket) Weaving/inabel, she is Master weaver of Ilocos Norte.
• Teofilo Garcia is a GAMABA Awardees 2012 and his contribution is the Tabungaw hat making which is a Traditional casque or headpiece used to shield one from the elements.
• AMBALANG AUSALIN is a GAMABA Awardees 2016, she is a Master weaver from city of lamitan,Basilan and her contribution are Yakan weaving.
• ESTELITA BANTILAN is a GAMABA Awardees 2016 her contribution is the B'laan Mat Weaving using a variety of pandan called romblon.
• YABING MASALON DULO is a Gamaba Awardees 2016 her contribution is the B'laan Ikat or Tie-dye Fabric Weaving, she used wild abaca in her Ikat dyed fabrics and with her eye catching and colorful textiles.
