  • continental drift - the theory that the continents have moved over time and that the continents are not fixed in their present positions
  • constructive plate boundary - two plates move away from each other, can create volcanoes, earthquakes, mid ocean ridges, new land and volcanic islands.
  • destructive plate boundary - two plates move towards each other and the plates are forced underneath each other can create fold mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes.
  • conservative plate boundary - two plates slide past each other can create earthquakes
