Pals batallions

• The government introduced pals battalions to help with the war effort. they promised to keep groups of men together. sports teams/orchestras signed up together
• Advantages:

  • everyone got on
  • shared experience
  • encouragement
  • more recruits
• Disadvantage:

  • peer pressure
  • one died, whole group affected
  • whole villages with no men
