What does a concilliator do?
The impartial conciliator tries to encourage the parties in dispute to come to an agreement between themselves, and so avoid the stress and expense of contesting the issue in Tribunal or court.
WHat is the difference between conciliation and mediation?
The conciliator is able to mediate and is able to intervene in the process and actively suggest a solution.
Who arranges meetings in conciliation ?
The conciliator will arrange the meeting at a time, date and place that is convenient to all the parties. The process works the same as mediation, so the conciliator meets the parties privately after they have stated their issues.
How does a conciliator play an active role?
The conciliator listens to the issues and suggests how they can be resolved .If the parties agree to the suggestion, then these can be made legally binding.
What does ACAS do?
ACAS operates a conciliation scheme in industrial disputes. For example cases that are due to be heard before a tribunal are sent to ACAS. The ACAS conciliator is an expert in employment law.
