    • Dec 1933 - entire Protestant Youth movement with more than 700,000 members was placed under the leadership of the Hitler Youth.
    • Nazis closed catholic schools and catholic magazines were censored then banned.
    • The church largely cooperated with the Nazis - The Nazis did try to control to the church, but had to proceed more cautiously with persecution than with other groups, due to large support from German population.
    • Concordat - July 1933 - agreement with the church. Initially successful although Nazis soon broke the agreement.
    • A few individuals from the churches did speak out but they were not supported by the church and ended up in concentration camps.
    • Nazi attempt to create a new pagan religion to replace Christianity - German Faith Movement. Never caught on with most of the population.
