    • Standard of education in Nazi Germany fell due to the purge of the teaching profession and changes to the school curriculum.
    • All lessons began with pupils and teachers saluting Hitler. All classrooms had a portrait of Hitler on the wall.
    • Subjects were altered to include a military slant - e.g. military equations in maths and focus on knowledge of chemical welfare and explosives in chemistry.
    • Discrimination against Jewish children - Jews removed from schools. Jewish children were humiliated by teachers in class and pupils were taught about the inferiority of Jews and how to identify them.
    • PE increased to 5 hours a week. Boxing became compulsory for boys and gymnastics for girls.
    • 'National Political Institutes of Education' (NAPOLAS) Special schools set up to train future Nazi leaders.
