Women in Nazi Germany

• • Women were not meant to wear make up, wear trousers, dye hair or be too skinny.
  • Unmarried pregnancies were approved which would lead to more Aryan births.
  • Many women forced to leave jobs and instead look after families. The introduction of the Law for reduction of Unemployment - gave women financial incentives to stay at home.
• • Women encouraged to adopt a healthy lifestyle - plenty of exercise and no smoking or drinking.
  • Won medals for the number of children they had bronze medal for 4, silver medal for 6, and gold for 8. Special ceremony's on Hitler's birthday for all women who had more than 8 kids.
  • Pregnancy - abortions illegal after 1933 and availability of contraceptives restricted. Wanted to increase the number of children but also wanted to improve the race.
