Nazi economic policies - limitations

Cards (2)

    • Focus on Autarky - for most Germans there were few luxury items and everyday consumer goods were in short supply.
    • Declining quality of goods as firms substituted poorer materials for those no longer imported.
    • Inaccurate unemployment figures - Jews and women removed from their jobs not included in unemployment figures. Those imprisoned in concentration camps were also not included.
    • Nazis took over a large amount of Jewish property and money - boosted the economy but had nothing to do with Nazi economic policy.
    • Food prices were more expensive because they could have been imported much cheaper from abroad.
    • People worked where the government wanted them to and had to work long hours. Required permission to leave jobs and the labour front issued workbooks to keep track of workers.
