Carrier proteins

• Diffusing molecules combines with proteins to be carried across the membrane and deposited on the other side
• After attachment , the carrier protein changes shape and releases the molecule on the other side of the membrane
• Carrier proteins are specific and act like enzymes in that an active site may be involved and inhibition may occur
