Nemeth conducted an experiment to investigate the effect of flexibility on minority influence
There were three conditions
condition 1 - confederates were consistent with saying that the slides were blue
condition 2 - confederates were inconsistent, randomly saying that the slides were either blue or green
condition 3 - for the darker slides, they said it was green-blue, for the lighter slides, they said it was blue
condition three had the most impact due to being consistent but flexible
the group that were flexible had more influence on the participants behaviour than the group that were rigid
