• Nemeth conducted an experiment to investigate the effect of flexibility on minority influence
• There were three conditions

  • condition 1 - confederates were consistent with saying that the slides were blue
  • condition 2 - confederates were inconsistent, randomly saying that the slides were either blue or green
  • condition 3 - for the darker slides, they said it was green-blue, for the lighter slides, they said it was blue

  condition three had the most impact due to being consistent but flexible
• the group that were flexible had more influence on the participants behaviour than the group that were rigid
