• Females are choosy due to wanting sexy sons, as it is costly to reproduce so need fit offspring
• Females can choose males based on their fitness, such as the ability to find her nuptial gifts, ability to care for offspring, or possession of a certain trait
• Lek is the aggregation of males on small mating territories, where females can visit and look at their elaborate displays due to being unable to look after females economically
• Attractiveness of a male can depend on host health and resistance to parasites, as parasites can be passed onto offspring
