• Anterior/ventral: front surface or belly side
• Posterior/Dorsal: back surface
• Cranial/Cephalic: head
• Superior: above or highest
• Inferior: below or lowest
• Caudal: tail/coccyx
• Medial: towards middle of body
• Lateral: along the side of
• Proximal: towards an attached base
• Distal: away from an attached base
• Superficial: near the surface/closer to the body surface
• Deep: far from the surface
