• 11 million Germans soldiers fought in the war with 55% them becoming casualties (nearly two million dead, over four million wounded)
• Over 750000 Germans died due to food shortages
• Riots, strikes and mutinies (of workers, soldiers and sailors) across German cities started in October 1918
