-is based on flight or fight response. When we experience stress, the autonomic NS is aroused and we sweat more.
-This makes our hear rate higher which means more blood pumping through the body which means sweat more so the body doesn't overheat.
Skin conductance
-is measured using electrodes, an electrical current is used but very weak one so is not felt. Used to see how much current can be conducted from your body as human skin is a good conductor.
Tonic conductance
-baseline level of skin conductance activity. Not experiencing a stimulus.
Phasic conductance
-occurs in response to a stimulus. It is rapid, short-lasting changes in the skin conductance response.
Other physiological measures
-measuring blood pressure.
-Cortisol and adrenaline level occur naturally during the day so a baseline measure needs to be taken.
-Cortisol levels measured in saliva, blood and urine.
