• What is the name for the top and bottom anatomical postion?

  Cranial and caudal.
• What is ventral?

  the front
• What is dorsal?

  the back of the body.
• Medial and lateral?

  Medial towards the middle line, lateral away from middle line.
• What is proximal?

  closer or nearest the trunk
• What is distal?

  Farther away from the point of reference.
• Describe the two regional terms.

  Axial: head, neck and trunk

  Appendicular: limbs
• What is dorsal body cavity?

  Protects the CNS organs. Cranial and spinal cavity.
• What is the ventral body cavity?

  holds internal organs called the viscera or visceral organs
• What does thoracic cavity contain?

  mediastinum, pleural cavity and pericardial
• List the ventral body cavities?

  Thoracic cavity, abdominal cavity, pelvic cavity
