Mikvah

• A mikvah is a ritual bath used for spiritual purification
• Unlike a regular bath which cleanses the body, immersion in a mikvah is intended to achieve spiritual cleanliness
• the water in a mikvah must come from a natural source, as it is believed to have purifying properties from God
• After childbirth a mother attends a mikvah for purification once she has stopped bleeding
• • According to Leviticus 12, after giving birth, a mother must not touch anything sacred for 7 days plus 33 days for a boy and 14 days plus 66 days for a girl.
  • There is longer recovery time after a girl because you have given life to another creator
