• The Integumentary System mainly serves as the protection and cover, it’s the outermost part of the body
• skin is the largest organ outside of the body, it covers the body from head to toe
• the epidermis is the outermost layer or the skin
• dermis is also known as the middle layer, it contains the blood vessels and etc
• subcutaneous fat is the deepest layer of the skin
• melanin is in charge of the skins pigmentation
• melanocytes are what produce melanin
• the stratum corneum is the outermost layer of the epidermis
• the stratum lucidmum‘s main function is to reduce friction between the stratum corneum and stratum granulosum
• the stratum granulosum prevents fluid loss
• the deepest portion of the epidermis is the stratum basale
• stratum spinosum makes your skin flexible and strong
• the body perspires or sweats because of the sweat glands
