Type 2

Cards (3)

  • Type 2 diabetes is when a persons body doesn’t produce enough insulin or produces insulin that the body cannot use and the cells become resistant to insulin meaning they require more insulin to keep blood glucose levels stable.
  • While people with Type 2 diabetes may need to take tablets or inject insulin, they can also manage their diabetes through diet, exercise and monitoring their blood glucose levels.
  • Exercise increases insulin sensitivity, helping the body use it more effectively, and keeping track of fat and carbohydrate intake helps manage blood glucose levels.
