  1. Public Meetings - would hold these to speak out against slavery, John Newton was one of the main public speakers
  2. Books/Autobiographies - many wrote books campaigning for abolition, the most famous was Olaudah Equiano's autobiography
  3. Imagery - seals were used to promote abolition on pottery
  4. Lobbying - attempting to convince MPs to end the trade
  5. Boycotting - encouraging people to boycott slave-made sugar
  6. Petitions - these were sent to the King and MPs, who could change the law
