The Government of National Unity

• Nelson Mandela took office as president of SA on 10 May 1994.
• Mandela immediately re-joined the British Commonwealth and SA was admitted to the United Nations.
• The ANC-led government of National Unity, headed by Nelson Mandela, included member of the NP and IFP, members of different races, faiths and genders.
