• the cns contains the brain and spinal cord
• the pns contains the autonomic and somatic nervous system
• the autonomic system includes the sympathetic and parasympathetic branch
• the sympathetic branch is responsible for flight or fight
• the parasympathetic branch brings functions back to normal
• the endocrine system is a network of glands that secretes chemical messages e.g hormones
• hormones are chemicals that circulate the blood stream and target sites throughout the body e.g oestrogen (regulates menstrual cycle and pregnancy)
