The "teachers" asked questions and administered the "shocks"
the "learner" is a person who answers questions and received the "shocks" if incorrect
the "authority" is the overseer of the experiment and prompted teacher to continue
the factors that increased obedience were physical proximity of the authority figure, perceived legitimacy of the authority figure, distance/depersonalization of the victim (learner), and lack of model for defiance
