Respiration

• Anaerobic: relating to or requiring an absence of free oxygen

  • after glycolysis there is no 02 pyruvate converted into lactate ( bacteria and humans) or ethanol( plants + yeast)
  • NADH oxidised= NAS REGENERATED
  • NAD IS USED AGAIN IN GLycolysis
  • atp yield is low
  • glycoloysis only forms 2xATP so anaerobic respiration also forms 2x ATP
