Myopia

• also known as short-sightedness
• results in the inability to focus clearly on distant objects
• caused when the eye is elongated so refracted light rays can’t reach the retina when focused
• can be caused when the lens is too thick/curved so light is refracted and focuses before reaching the retina
• a concave lens is used to correct this
