Salvation and Atonement

• Jesus came to bring salvation to save people from sin and reunite them with God
• John 3:17 about God sending Jesus to reunite humanity with God:

  ' For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him '
• • Christians believe that everyone was created for a relationship with God but they turned away, starting with Adam and Eve
  • Jesus said that repentance and grace is needed for salvation
• Christians believe that because Jesus died to save humanity from sin, the relationship between God and Humanity was restored. This is called atonement
• Christians believe Jesus died act an act of love to save humanity, even though humanity did not deserve it
• The love Jesus gave by taking his life is called ' grace ' which means undeserved love
