Edward IV- 2nd reign

• Duke of Clarence was the brother of Edward IV and was executed for treason in 1478
• Richard, duke of Gloucester married Anne Neville (Earl of Warwick's daughter) in 1472.
• Edward IV died on April 9th 1483
• Edward IV caused problems with inheritance rights. in an effort to stabilise and strengthen his son's throne removed many estates from nobility, ignoring their inheritance rights.
• Duke of Clarence was executed because he was very close to becoming overmighty subject.
• the key areas in regional government are North, Midlands, Wales, Ireland.
• Ireland was very hard to govern in regional government, Edward was lord of Ireland (lord lieutenant).
• The act of resumption occurred in November 1473, from parliament of both brother's lands (Gloucester&Clarence) after there continued quarrel. all estates were removed.
• Edward IV improved finance by: more efficient tax collection, removal of bastard feudalism, treaty of picqunay, encouraged trade.
• Edward IV foreign policy for France was to invade france (ended after few weeks fighting. This resulted in the Treaty of Piciquny, £1000 annually.
• Edward invaded france in July 1475.
• The alliance between England, Burgundy and Brittany was in spring 1475, before the invasion of France.
• Edward invaded France because to punish france for their involvement in his usurpation and to get land.
• The treaty of Piciquny was in August 1475 and was an agreement to immediately withdraw from France. France agreed to give £1000 annually.
• Edward invaded Scotland in 1482.
• Edward invaded Scotland because the truce made in 1473 failed, the Scottish border had many raids and to create order in Scotland.
• Richard, Duke of Gloucester governed the north of England, nicknamed "king of the north".
• In 1469 Richard married Isabel Neville, Warwick's daughter, without Edward's permission.
• Warwick died at Barnet on April 1471
