  2 polynucleotide chains arranged in a double helix structure.

  Sugar and phosphate lie on the outside of the helix and form the DNA's backbone.

  Nitrogenous bases are inside the helix. Hydrogen bonds hold base pairs together.

  Strands are antiparallel.
