• What is translocation?

  The movement of dissolved sugars from the leaves to the rest of the plant.
• What is the transpiration stream?

  The movement of water from the roots, through the stem to the leaves as a result of transpiration.
• What are the 3 stages of transpiration?

  • Diffusion of water out the spongy mesophyll cells.
  • Evaporation of water from the surface of the cells into the air space.
  • Diffusion out of the stomata into the atmosphere.
• What is transpiration?

  The loss of water from the leaf via evaporation - through the stomata.
