Some glucose is used in cellular respiration to release energy
Glucose can be turned into cellulose to from cell walls
Glucose can also be converted into starch - an energy store for the plant that can be broken down into glucose at times when the plant isn't photosynthesising (like at night/winter)
If nitrates ions are added to the glucose, it can be turned into amino acids which are then combined to make proteins (needed for growth)
Glucose can be stored in seeds as oils and fats
Starch can be tested for using iodine solution
To soften and damage the cells so that the chemical test can reach the starch
To remove the green pigment (chlorophyll from the leaf)
To remove any ethanol on the leaf before testing with iodine
To show if and where the leaf as storing its starch
