• Sputum questions:

  • Only question patients about their sputum if they have told you that they have a productive cough
  • How much sputum do you bring up daily? Now? Normally?
  • Yoghurt pot
  • Dessert spoon
  • Table spoon
  • Is your sputum thick or runny? (sputum viscosity)
  • Does the sputum have an unpleasant odour?
  • What colour is your sputum? Now? Normally?
• Haemoptysis:

  • Have you been coughing up any blood?
