• how to calculate Wilcoxin

  1. find the difference between set of scores
  2. rank differences, ignoring positive or negative signs and 0 values
  3. look at difference column and count number of positive and negative figures
  4. add scores of the lowest number of signs
  5. calculate n value - n = number of differences
  6. match n value with table of critical value
• observed value less than or equal to critical value

  difference between the scores is significant so null hypothesis is rejected and alternative hypothesis is accepted
• observed value is greater than critical value
