competition and interdepedence

• habitat is the enviroment in which organisims live in
• population is the total number of organisims of the same species living in the same geographical area
• community is the population of all the different species that live in the same habitat
• biotic means living
• abiotic means non living
• an ecosystem is both the biotic and abiotic parts of an enviroment and how they interact
• plants can compete with each other for light, water, minerals and space
• animals can compete for food, mates, territory, and water
• interdependence is the idea that all animals depending on each other for survival
• if a species disappears from a community this can affect the whole community
• in a stable community the populations of each species are in balance with each other and with the environment
