  • Austria lost land to Italy and Romania, and land was taken to create Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. Poland was given land too
  • Austria was told to pay reparations, but no amount was ever fixed
  • 30,000 men in the army, no conscription, no navy
  • Could not unite with Germany (Anschluss)
  • Italy was promised land but they didn't feel as if they had received enough
  • Austria lost much of its industry to Czechoslovakia - its economy collapsed in 1921
