Unfair

• The causes of WWI were complex. It is unfair to blame Germany alone
• Six million Germans lived outside of Germany and feared persecution
• German families were forced off land they had owned for generations
• The Germans thought the peace treaty would be based on Wilson's 14 points - it wasn't
• Lloyd George predicted there would be another war in just 35 years time
• The Allies did not enforce the Treaty of Sevres - Turkey protested and got what it wanted in the Treaty of Lausanne
• New, independent countries created by the Treaties of St Germain and Trianon united groups who didn't want to be together
• Germany had no say in the treaty - it was a diktat
