The Philistines were the longest and the worst enemies of the Israelites.
An angel appeared at the birth of Samson signifying God’s presence and intervention. He was offered to God and consecrated as a Nazarite, which was symbolized by his uncut hair.
Samson, must keep his Nazarite vow by not cutting his hair and by abstaining from drinking wine to maintain his exceptional strength.
He waged war with the Philistines alone and they repeatedly
lost because no one could match his superhuman strength.
Whenever Samson fought the Philistines, “the spirit of the Lord came upon him”
Samson had fallen in love with a woman named Delilah.
He fell to Delilah’s deceit and ignoring his promise to God, told about his Nazarite vow
Samson was sorry and repentant for having put his trust in Delilah rather than God and pray, “O Lord God, remember me! Strengthen me, O God, this last time that for my two eyes I may avenge myself once and for all on the Philistines”
Samson got the chance to fulfill his mission, to save the Israelites, using all his regained strength, pushed against the pillars and the temple collapsed and killed all the Philistines who were inside.
Delilah was paid by the Philistines to know the secret of why Samson is so strong
Delilah then cut his hair, and shouted that the Philistines is there to capture him, Samson felt weak and the Philistines took Him to jail.
