    The Truman doctrine solidified the US 'attack' on communism. By offering Greece and Turkey aid it was closer to Stalin and more threatening (as turkey and USSR share a border)

    Showed to the US that the USSR and other communist countries were strong and united so it wouldn't be easy for Truman to get rid of communism. Also threatened Stalin though because Truman was actively trying containment

Other side is democratic USSR
