  • B-cells are a type of white blood cell
  • B-cells are covered with antibodies

  • each antibody is specific to an antigen due to their different shapes
    1. the antibody on the surface of the B-cell meets a complementary shaped antigen and binds to it
    2. this activates the B-cell, along with chemicals from helper T-cells, this is called clonal selection
    3. the activated B-cell divides into plasma cells
