  • Effectiveness- intergration with other therapies
    Techniques of mindfulness are becoming increasingly incorporated into other therapies such as CBT and psychoanalysis. An example is mindfulness based CBT is a four sage therapeutic approach which incorporates mindfulness with CBT which helps to change the process of thinking and not jut the content of our thoughts
  • Effectiveness
    MBSR has been developed for use in general hospitals with patients suffrom conditions which may be painful ,chronic . Reibal et Al 2001 reported MBSR decreased levels of anxiety and depression in 8 week mindfulness programme

    There is some evidence to suggest that mindfulness mediation is more effective in group settings. For example Mantzios and Guannou 2014 investigated group v individual mindfulness among participants who were trying to gain weight . Researcher found Ps in the group setting lost more weight and lowered their levels of cognitive behavioural avoidance
  • Ethics
    Unlike other therapies (psychoanalysis) mindfulness does not involve dragging up past as a means of offering an explanation for present behaviour therefore client anxiety is avoided. Mindfulness does not involve attributing current issues to past events

    Mindfulness is seenas essential in maintaining moral and ethical standards. It is taught in organisations to enhance leadership skills
