Delusions tend to happen because of an egocentric bias (a tendency to relate events to onself) this coupled with faulty info processing causes the onset of delusions
Patients are also impervious to reality testing and as a result believe these delusions must be true
hallucinations
Hallucinates are caused by over sensitivity to auditory stimuli (hyper -vigilance)
and also a failure to meta-represent. Eg. in auditory hallucinations person fails to recognise the voice is internal and that their thoughts are their own. Instead they might believe it is someone else talking. With this comes a refusal to accept that it is not true
