• Point mutation - 1 nucleotide is changed in the DNA sequence but Degenerate nature of genetic code means new codon still codes for same amino acid no change in prote in synthesised = silent mutation
• Missense- change to base triplet = change Amino acid sequence affect shape and function of protein

  nonsense - AA is a stop codon protein degraded

  indel - insert/delete of nucleotides = frame shift = Triple code read sequence = changes everything from point of mutation
