human nervous system

Cards (4)

  • The human nervous system consists of the Central nervous system, which is the primary internal communication system that receives information from senses and controls the behaviour and regulation of the body, and the Peripheral nervous system, which is the nervous system outside the brain and spinal cord that connects the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the body.
  • The Central nervous system includes the Brain, which consists of two hyperspheres, and the Spinal cortex, which is a reflex arc that connects effectors and the brain.
  • The Peripheral nervous system includes the Somatic system, which controls voluntary movement, and the Autonomic system, which controls movement and involuntary actions in a fight or flight situation.
  • The Autonomic system includes the Sympathetic system, which is activated when in a fight or flight situation, and the Parasymphatic system, which is a calming, relaxing state that relaxes individuals after an emergency has passed.
