WEATHER VS. CLIMATE

• weather refers to the condition of the atmosphere over a short period of time
• climate refers to the condition of the atmosphere over a long period of time
• PAGASA means PHILIPPINE ATMOSPHERIC GEOPHYSICAL ASTRONOMICAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION
• PAGASA refers to the overall in charge agnecy for monitoring the condition of the atmosphere within the philippine area of responsibility
• the two major climate zone are MARINE AND CONTINENTAL
• MARINE refers to an area near the ocean that is influenced by air masses from the ocean
• CONTINENTAL is an area far from the ocean that is influenced mostly by air masses from large land areas
• THE FACTORS THAT AFFECT THE CLIMATE ARE TEMPERATURE, LATITUDE, ALTITUDE, TOPOGRAPHY, DISTANCE FROM LAND AND WATER, AND OCEANCURRENTS
• LATITUDE or elevation, refers to the distance above the sea level
• TOPOGRAPHY refers to the physical characteristics of an area
• WINDWARD is the side of the mountain facing the wind is flowing upward
• LEEWARD is the side of the mountain where the wind is flowing downward
• OCEANCURRENT is any more or less permanent or continuos, directed movement of ocean water that flows on of the earth's ocean
• CLIMATE CHANGE is a long-term change in the patternes of temperature, wind, and precipitations
